The base shape is the RIGHT bank, drawn with the tributary on the left of the
picture. Facing downstream — which is how left and right bank are defined — your
left hand points across the picture to the right, so a tributary drawn entering from
the picture's left is arriving on your right. The mirror below is therefore the left
bank, and not the other way round.
